My Name Is Modesty was firstly to be issued in France. The English version to follow one month later so it should be available soon.
I have seen the movie and it is not a blockbuster. It is really just the history of how Modesty came into being. It covers her beginnings as a child and how she comes to the casino and takes over. A lot of it is done in flashback.
Its 1hr 20 minutes long and although it has been done quite well for what it is, it is very much a prequel only.
There is of course no Willie. Also, Alex Staden to my mind, has not picked up the Modesty personality or way of being at all. She just comes across as a young teenage girl and I strived very hard to see any Modesty qualities in her at all. The movie is mostly dialogue which takes place in the casino, cut together with flash backs of how she came to be there.
I'm not totally disappointed because at least the movie is accurate in its background facts about Modesty. Alex Staden will not be playing Modesty again. She was used for the teenage Modesty only.
I'm afraid it is a very poor shadow of the sort of blockbuster action movie that can be made, but it was only ever supposed to be a prequel so hopefully it may lead to a bigger and more Modesty-like movie at a later date.

I think the reason Tarantino has been involved in this is that he has been a Modesty fan since boyhood and has been interested in making the follow up, which if it gets made (who knows?) is to be A Taste For Death which is his favorite MB book.
There is a script. But the wheels of these things turn exceedingly slow.
